BREAKING POINT

"When things go wrong, don't go with them." - Elvis Presley

"I give up!"
I have heard that a lot of times. And some of those times, it was me saying it. (Yes. I am human. I have the ability to lose my zen too.) We all have things we wish for, plan for, and even work for. And when it seems like those things are unachievable, our first instinct is to give up.
Our career, academics, relationships, etc, may not bring the satisfaction we desire, but does that mean that we should throw in the towel? Notice the question mark? It means that something is necessary. And that is that a decision has to be made. Before taking any step, ask yourself some questions like;
a. Is the end really worth the fight?
b. Do you want it bad enough?
c. What can you do to get it?
d. What will happen after you have got it?
Questions like these help you focus on the goal and not your emotions. A simple talk can save millions of relationships in the world, if only both sides are open to make things right. But some are so concerned about their feelings, they lose sight of what is important and worth saving.
Now, before I continue, I would like us to note that there is a difference between giving up and knowing when you have had enough. You have had enough when the answers to the questions above are all in the negative and there is no satisfaction in continuing on that path. But sometimes, you have to give up on people and/or goals, not because you don't care anymore, but because they don't. Or, the goals will not give you the desired satisfaction, or lead you in the direction you want for your life. But please, never give up on something you really want. It's difficult to wait, but it's more difficult to regret.
No one has the power to shatter your dreams unless you give it to them. Head up, stay strong, fake a smile, and move on. The minute you think of giving up, remember the reason why you held on for so long. And if it is still worth it, continue. It is all relative. What would work for you may be disastrous for another person. So, whenever you feel like life is not fair and you want to give up, remember that hope is precious, and you are right not to give up if it feels right to persevere. There's no failure except in no longer trying. When we can't dream any longer, we die.
Keep smiling, and one day, life will get tired of upsetting you.
Have a great weekend!
