Hello stranger!!
My heart said it before I could stop it. But I was fast enough to control my tongue. I can't remember when it all began, but suddenly, I felt the distance between us get wider and none of us did anything to change the situation.
We used to be great friends. Heck! We used to be the best of friends!! The type that always had something to laugh about, whether or not others got the joke. Our private jokes were great too, most were silly I admit, *chuckles* but they all made a lot of sense to us. I still catch myself smiling when I remember any of them. Those were the best of times. We were younger, fun, innocent, with little or no care about what people thought of us.
I can't remember how we met or the first time we spoke, but whatever we spoke about must have been extremely important to us as we bonded really fast. I don't know how it all happened but I remember that a day hardly went by without us talking to each other, laughing, or eating together. If I would let myself do so, I would admit that I miss those times. We were inseparable. Got through everything together. We were "THE TEAM"! And everyone knew it.
That is why it is hard for me to understand why our friendship did not survive that unfortunate argument. I mean, looking back now, our friendship was stronger than that! *I think* Yes, we apologised to each other for the part we played in the whole thing, but things changed after that. And I changed with it. The calls first reduced, then the hellos and then it all stopped. Do you even remember our friendship? Do you think about me at all?
Why did we do that? Why did we let it end that way?
Hmmm... I can not even answer those questions. But I guess it was time. Or , maybe what we had was not strong enough. Whatever the case, you were a great friend during the life of our friendship. I hope you are doing well? I wish you the best of all you wish for yourself.
So long lost friend!
So long stranger!

BEGINNING
Hello to you!
Whichever way it happened, I am thankful that you found your way here. Not to bore you before the fun begins, I would like to say a few things to drive the purpose of all these to you.
*drumrolls*
Firstly, this platform is a diary(you can call it my Web Diary). I intend it to be a compilation of my thoughts (whether literary piece, random rants and other boring stuff that run through my mind daily). As you might have noticed, the first 6 posts were literary pieces. They were all written by me for my mum, and I hereby formally dedicate them to her.
Secondly, yes, I own this blog *obviously!* but I only think of myself as a writer. An amateur writer if I may add, as the second purpose of my creating this blog is to hone my creative and writing skills. On this note, I would like to ask that criticism, especially the constructive sort, is allowed.
Thirdly, I write and sign off as "The Lady". Any other article posted on this blog without that signature is not to be identified as mine, except otherwise is expressly stated. That said, any article can be sent in to be published here. And any article taken or copied from this blog, by whatever means, is an intellectual property of the owner(s) and it is expected that the owner(s) be made known of such taking or copying. Thank you!
*gasps for air*
So, that is all with the boring stuff! *Thank God!*
I hope you would be here for me, to help me grow, and probably, grow with me. I can't wait to see where this takes us. I admit that I am a little scared, but I am ready to grow in the right direction.
Here's to baby steps, growth, and life...
CHEERS!!!

LYDIA
Blinded by streaming tears,
Sight dimmed and blurry,
She found her sweet escape,
And with that, she found herself.
With one purpose only,
She toiled every night and day,
To provide for all her babes,
In a world of much negativity.
They all were her light,
Her world, her life, her purpose,
Not caring for her health or herself,
She toiled even more for them.
Her once upon a time,
She loved them all with her life,
But for any one who erred,
She corrected with words and rod.
She became a slave to her purpose,
In unending pursuit of the best,
For her babes, big or small,
She must give her best to all.
And every milestone achieved,
Oh! She prayed, danced, and cried,
No one could dim the light,
That sparkled in her eyes.
Her babes in silence noted,
Her sacrifice and pain,
And in silence individually,
They swore to make good it all.
For every tear in her eyes,
And every bruise of her heart,
And every scar on her skin,
Will be made good a million folds.
Her babes, they worked and toiled,
Determined, everyone, big and small,
To make good every sacrifice,
Mama has made for them all.
Oh Lydia! Wait for us Mama!
Your babes are toiling and praying,
That you wait a little longer Mama,
And reap the fruits of the seeds you sowed.

PHOENIX
He gave her love,
She gave above.
She became his glove,
Pure as a dove.
He gave a lot,
She took a lot.
She saw his fault,
Clear as a dot.
He had his fix,
She tried to fix.
She changed like a remix,
Old as a Phoenix.
- The Lady
“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be
tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:”

Infelicity.
Exhilarated.

Endeared.

Judged.
She has it all,
She knows life.
Free.
Restrained.
Kept.

She's had it all,
She's felt it all.
Peace.
War.
Family.
Foes.
Ups.

She's had it all,
She's wealthy in all.

MINE
Not everything that matters was meant to be,
But you are mine and that is all that matters.
No sweeter thing has happened to me,
But I am yours and that is...Oh! The sweetest.
No brighter light have I ever seen,
But the light in your eyes that sparkles when you smile.
No safer place do I have in life,
But the crook of your arms in your warm embrace.
No more pleasing feeling have I ever felt,
But the feeling I had when you cried with me.
No being have I met with much calm, poise and grace,
But the regal elegance about you, Your Highness.
No stronger being have I seen on Earth,
But the strength I see when you are fast at work.
No sadder thought have I ever had,
But the thought that you won't be here all my life.

FLAWED
Fair as that succulent Papaya,
Skin the feel of Shea butter.
She was an intriguing mystery,
Perfection! Endowed not miserly.
Eyes like scattered stars,
Which decorated pitch black skies.
She smiled and stole my heart,
Ethereal enchantment! Pure and delicate.
Heart caught on fire,
Hands ever dancing with work.
She is the King among queens,
Virtuous addiction! Pride of her home.
Life of child-like innocence,
Most sublime form created.
She was a contradiction of herself,
Perfectly flawed perfection! My rubies, my gem.
-The Lady

READY
She saw dust,
Had sacks as clothes.
The smile on their faces was scorn-filled and hurtful.
She was torn,
Had tear-filled eyes.
The look on her face was of sorrow and fights.
But still she rose,
They knew not how.
With dust, and rags, and blood in her heart.
But fight she fought,
'Till dawn from dusk.
A Victor, she crushed all the naysayers' lies.
Be it in rain,
Or under the sun.
She endured and endures the pressures of life.
But now it is,
Ordained it now is.
She is ready, a born fighter, a leader, a Queen.
- The Lady.
